Our History

CarefreeIT was founded by John Balch in Waterloo in May 1998. John's focus was to provide reliable and professional IT support for businesses - for a fixed monthly fee.

The "fixed fee" approach was unique at the time. Most IT service providers were (and many still are) providing their services on a pay-as-you-go hourly rate.

The problem with the old pay-as-you-go approach is that it provided no incentive for the IT service company to fix problems properly or efficiently. After all, he got paid more when his customers had severe problems. The "fixed fee" approach, on the other hand, is a system where everyone benefits when the client's IT problems are few and far between.

The "fixed fee" idea caught on quickly and, in the early 2000s, the industry began calling the new approach "Managed Services".

Where We Are Now

We've moved beyond the traditional role of a Managed Service provider and have become a strategic partner for our clients. Our dedicated customer service team is committed to working very closely with each one of them to ensure they're getting full value for their technology investment by aligning their IT with their business goals. We continually monitor and adjust all aspects of their systems to ensure they're always operating at peak efficiency.
